Many hundreds of children have graduated senior high school through Carolia’s Education Sponsorship Program. These children have then had access to improved employment opportunities, thus improving both their and their families quality of life.
Without this education children are destined to a life of poverty in their poor villages or extremely hard, poor paying labouring positions, offering irregular or seasonal incomes.
Children in our program gain confidence in their ability to rise above the extreme life of poverty they are born into.
Bambang, Carolia’s Manager in Bali, mentors all the children and he liaises between the children, their schools and the children’s families. In many cases Bambang and his wife Komang are the parents the children do not have.
Bambang assesses all families who wish their children to enter Carolia’s education sponsorship program. Families who have no regular source of income are able to benefit from this program.
Fees of $350 per year cover school fees, book fees, uniforms and shoes. An additional levy of $50 per year ensures that each child takes home to their family a fabulous food parcel twice yearly.
Twice yearly in June & November, Carolia holds a party day in Candi Dasa which is attended by all sponsor children and any sponsors visiting Bali.
The children spend a whole day in groups of mixed religion, gender & age, playing different fun games and activities. They enjoy a fabulous lunch including nasi bungkus, cake, fruit & ice cream.
All the children received a “show bag” containing toiletries such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste & brush, deodorant and a variety of treats such as flavoured milks, tea, biscuits and savoury items.
All girls, where required receive a 6 month supply of sanitary pads.
Photos are taken of each child and emailed to their individual sponsor.
