Carolia accepts donations of secondhand prescription glasses from members of the public and we also have a local optician who collects them from clients on our behalf.
These glasses are cleaned and packaged up then sent to Bali periodically to be distributed to those in desperately poor villages who need them. The people who benefit from this program will never be able to have their eyesight checked and purchase a pair of glasses. Without these glasses they are destined to wander their villages, sight impaired, for the rest of their lives.
Carolia runs community gatherings where individuals get the opportunity to try on each and every pair of glasses, keeping the pair that best improves their sight as they work their way through the collection. Eventually they have a pair that has drastically improved their vision and they go away happy.
